I love this container - we use it everyday. The Duo is also getting a workout. They protect fruit and other more fragile edibles nicely, and are pretty and cheerfully designed, to boot. We're happy not to be using plastic.

I also experienced a problem with the lid paint (Pico only), but one simple email to the company prompted this response:

Lunch is fun with Mr. Bento! I echo all of the comments listed below. I would add that I do not eat rice daily and at first the rice container seemed useless for non-dry items. I like to put a can of veggies in that container, but the juice leaks and pools at the bottom of the vacuum canister. With a small sheet of press and seal wax paper, my mess goes away.

A nice, new tool for lunch time eating solutions! No more mis-matched containers or unhealthy fast food meals. Mr. Bento will pay for itself in just a few weeks.

This lunch box is built to last everthing is put togeather with strong materials only problem is a little hard to open sometimes because there is no hard plastic liner inside so top compartment tends to sag a little tried stuffing rolled up towels in when new seemed to help it was shipped in small box which had cooler smashed from beginning , but plenty of space to carry cold items in bottom and everthing else cold or not in top yes there are two compartments I would recomnend buying this !

I ordered a Mr. Bento for my wife for Christmas, after reading so many positive reviews here on Amazon. She loves it! Her soup stays hot, and warms whatever sits above it. She has to be careful packing items she wants to stay cold.
Shortly after she began using it, the little bowl that sits on top broke for no apparent reason (she does not put it in the dishwasher). I called the customer service number listed at the Zojirushi American Corporation web page http://www.zojirushi.com/ . All they needed was an email or fax of the invoice (I cut and pasted the printable page Amazon from my Amazon account for that order as a Word document) sent to them. They are mailing a free (they are paying postage too) replacement. On the phone they were the most polite people I have ever dealt with! We will enjoy doing business with them again. Highly recommended!

I ordered two pandas and two frogs for my 4 kids (from ages 2-10). They arrived today and I should probably wait for a day to see how they actually hold up going to school, but I am really excited about these boxes! On first glance they appear to be too small, but when I really think about how much lunch my kids are really able to consume in their short lunch period at school, I think it is just right and will prevent waste. I did try to close them up tonight and flip them over to see how lunch would fare in transit and, because of their small size and how tightly packed I had to make them, nothing moved. I didn't even use the inner tightly sealing lid on the top.

Edited: They made it to and from school without spilling. The kids were able to use the bands on them to reclose them. No problems whatsoever and they didn't even eat everything in the boxes!

So I was really excited to pack my lunch in to one cute little container... I made some really good veggies for leftover, veggie chili, snacks... Only problem was it's sore-pressed to stay upright on a car seat for the long drive to work. And, granted, I admit that I DID read it was not leak-proof, but just how leak-proof that's the problem. I put the cold VERY thick (eat with a fork thick) chili in the larger bottom cooler container... the entire inside of the thermos, all the containers, everything, covered in chili ooze. And then there was the staining... everything finally came clean except for the original chili container. I was better off sticking with my Lock & Locks. For sale: Used once, very clean except for slight stains in one container....

We like the lunchbox because of the cute designs,but were a little disappointed in it's durability. The first time I dropped it on the ground,it scratched off parts of the design. So,mom did some creative thinking and did some touch up paint and sealed the design with "self laminating sheets". That did the trick. We also wished the thermos and lunchbox were insulated. Other than that, it's o.k.

This is such a convenient little device. The insulated compartments keep things the right temperature for a pretty good, long time. I haven't had a leak with either the bottom (o-ring seal) container or the second (screw-on lid) container. I've found that meal portion size is easy to manage with this lunchbox/bento. You can even use the large container to cut your sandwiches into rounds, if you like. It also comes with a pair of sequestered, little chopsticks. They have their own case and fit inside of the pouch. If you want to take another item that doesn't quite fit in the compartments, the bag has lots of pouches to hold other items. I bought husband one and liked it so much, I bought myself one too.

This is one sweet product.

I don't like sandwiches for lunch, and I'm really not about the nuke for 5 minutes Lean Cuisine thing. I like variety. I can eat the same thing 4 days in a row, but I want more than a single thing, you know? This product allows that.

You just have to know how to use it.

The bottom bowl is for saucy things that you want to keep the hottest or coldest. The second one up is for rice or noodles or salad - basically the thing you want second warmest/coldest. The third and fourth have tupperware like lids and will, as with the other bowls keep your food correspondingly warmer/cooler. If you have hot stuff in the jar, the top two tiers will be room temp at lunch, cold will be cool.

If you have a microwave at work, so much the better. You can just nuke the stuff you want hot. I do this whenever I want a cold/hot variety.

This product is all Pro's with 2 exceptions: The spork is sharp and can scratch the bowl; and it's kind of big to schlep around. If I drove to work instead of using public transportation, this would not be an issue. Now, I could easily fix that by using the new Ms. Bento Vacuum Lunch Jar that's just like this but a bit smaller and minus one bowl. I'm not buying it because, as a Prime customer, paying for shipping for *anything* just about kills me.

I really like this bento. The design is ample, but compact. I like the included utensils (this was something I always used to forget!), as well as the extra insulation from the bag. The ONE thing I wish this had was a separate compartment - or maybe two smaller jars that snapped together - so that I could put cold things on one side and hot on the other. I love this lunch tote. It's very roomy and easily handles bulky packaged food (like last night's restaurant leftovers). I've washed it by hand and in the washing machine with no problem (Don't put it in the dryer). The dot design is very fun. My only complaint (minor) is that the neoprene fabric is somewhat smelly.

I've only had it less than a week, but I love it! I can take hot food out and about with me, and have a hot, easy lunch.

The four dishes are great - I can have soup, two scoop rice, some pickles, and some fruit, all in one container.

My only complaint with this is that the spork that comes with it is totally unusable for soup, and it doesn't come with chopsticks. Of course, the description doesn't say that it DOES come with chopsticks, but one would think that a Japanese lunch box would come with them. But, no mind - my chopsticks fit very easily into the bag the lunch jar fits into.

Solidly built like everything from Zojirushi, this will last for a long time.

This is an ok lunch box. I was disappointed that the hinge does not seem very sturdy and I expect it might break fairly quickly. Sometimes also, you have to have fiddle around with the inside containers to get the lid to close, so that is a little frustrating. I love that it has it's own silverware and the little dip container, as my daughter loves to dip her veggies in ranch dressing, and I had not been able to find a tiny reusable containter like that. I would like to have a handle on the box itself, so you don't have to buy the bag. I did not get the insulated carrying case, because right now my toddler goes to the sitter and there they put it in the fridge, so I did not think I needed the bag. I could see that it would come in handy for children when they go to school. Great concept! I do like the product, I just think it could be a little better.
