I bought it almost a year ago. It costed me 65 dollars at the time. I prepare lunch for my 3.5 year old daughter when she goes to her preschool. I use it for warm food and cold food. All teachers in the school love it and some teachers bought it for their children. It is really good.

Now, I have more time in weekends. I just bought three more because the price is half way down. I am going to use them for picnics in weekends. Sitting by a beach and eat my own prepared food, clean, safe and healthy. Great product.

For those of you who may not know, this system is very similar to the stainless steel stacking lunch jars which make their rounds in India. The "tiffin tins" are delivered to businesses by bicycle and typically contain various vegetarian curries/vegetables along with jasmine-steamed basmati rice in another of the stacked tin levels. This is an excellent (though not overly cheap) replacement for those who might want to try this style of "brown-bagging." I, for one, purchased this in order to force myself to bring my own lunch rather than going out to eat. This worked very well for me, where I would fill one container with salad, soup, or yogurt with berries. Then I put some chicken or other meat in one layer, perhaps some crackers and cheese in another, and then some carrots/celery (or, ahem, a cookie or two) to top it off. You can bundle all of that up in the container and happily go to work, knowing that you are set for eats for the entire day even if the day is a long one. One word of caution, while one of the stack-able containers is perfect for soup (with a rubber gasket, and steam-release one-way valve), in general it is good practice not to invert this guy too much. I have found on a few occasions (over the past two years of use) that this can lead to salad dressing from other compartments spilling into the main jar. This wouldn't be a big deal, other than you just need to clean the main jar at the end of the day as well. Great product and perfect way to maintain your eating habits.

What a huge disappointment from a company that makes the best rice cookers in the world - my mistake for thinking they could make a good Bento kit. This think leaks like it has no seals in the containers (can't imagine one is actually designed for soup) and it is a pain to clean all the leaked fluids after use. I highley recommend that you do not buy this if you plan to use it for any food that might have even the slightest amount of liquids. I was fooled once . . .

This is such a convenient little device. The insulated compartments keep things the right temperature for a pretty good, long time. I haven't had a leak with either the bottom (o-ring seal) container or the second (screw-on lid) container. I've found that meal portion size is easy to manage with this lunchbox/bento. You can even use the large container to cut your sandwiches into rounds, if you like. It also comes with a pair of sequestered, little chopsticks. They have their own case and fit inside of the pouch. If you want to take another item that doesn't quite fit in the compartments, the bag has lots of pouches to hold other items. I bought husband one and liked it so much, I bought myself one too.

Mr. Bento looks pretty good coming out of the box and has, indeed, encouraged me to make/bring my own lunches more often but I guess I had higher hopes. My main concern is that all but one of the containers leak if the box is somehow tilted onto its side ... say in a back pack or on the floor of a car. I've needed paper towels on hand ever time I've used it so far.

I still use it but wish it were of a little higher quality.

I read the reviews before buying it... always wondering as the reviews were old...BUT...
this is a wonderful lunch jar...I bought it because my husband is a UPS driver...he doesnt have a place to warm the food and he was tired of eating out and eating sandwich...so I started making the research until I found this... thought of buying for a while...and....IT WORKS!!!! thats all I need to tell... I put everythig hot on the lunch jar like around 7 in the morning and he goes to lunch at 2 in the afternoon..and...the food is hot...the soup(which I think is the one that keeps everyhting hot!) is hot the middle container is not as hot but hot...and hes happy...and thats was important...SO...WITHOUT ANY DOUBTS...BUY IT!!!

I ordered this lunch box for my intensive summer workshop. I heated up Chinese food every morning in these bowls around 7am, and by noon, the food was still hot. This lunch box basically meets my need.

But you really need to know how this thing works before you order it. As many other reviewers pointed out, only the bottom two bowls can keep hot or cold, and the top two only remain room temperature. In fact, the top ones will remain the temperature of whatever you have in the bottom two bowls. I had heated Chinese food in the bottom bowls one day and some salad in the top ones. By lunch time, the cold salad was totally heated up and tasted horrible.

The bowls are easily cleaned, but as all other plastic containers, they keep a bit of the food smell even after you completely clean them. It makes me feel that this thing can't really last very long before I totally feel uncomfortable with it.

The size is good for me, since I don't eat a lot. But it feels way too small for a big guy or teenager boy. Also it only fits Asian food or pasta-type of food. There is no chance you can stuff a sandwich, let's say half of the regular Subway size, in even the biggest bowl.

I really wish the bowls could be glass or something not catching the food smell. This is my biggest problem with the product.

This rugged and well made unit is a classy way to brown bag it. The containers allow for a variety of foods and the thermos keeps everything reasonably warm. I would prefer that the soup container was larger, but that's a personal preference.
